Monday was the first day of winter in reality in these parts About 1 inch of snow fell along with the temperatures putting us in the deep freeze and the weather people are saying it will be awhile before it warms up Grandson Report: Aaron brought Mom and Dad to Miltonvale on Satur day to have the car worked on and spend some time with Grandma and Grandpa We had an enjoyable time and be really ready to go home when it was time but he did with Mom and coaxing Sunday we had a short visit with him and Mom and Dad as Boss took Yours Truly for my annual Christmas abuse trip Christmas shop ping This trip as bad as some because I really enjoyed sharing my woes with the other abused husbands on the benches in the mall Some of us may get together next year and rent some space and fill it with La Boy chairs and TVs and rent them to abused husbands We felt like it would really do good I really had fun watching people find their disappearing cars in the parking lot while I was waiting for Boss They would wonder around in the lot looking this way and then that way doing a 360 degree turn count the rows count the parking spaces then hit themselves in their forehead with the palm of their hand and walk to their car after it reappeared again It was also fun to watch other husbands waiting for theirwives in the parking lot They would sleep awhile (or at least act like it) drum on the steering wheel glare at the people walking by look towards the mall every 15 seconds get out of the car and stretch try reading the paper while looking towards the mall every 15 seconds get frustrated when other (0 QInm betas a Adore 4A Him On that night in Bethlehem the world was Blessed with the Greatest Gift Ray Jane Gilbert wives showed up ana then when they see their wives coming fall back to sleep and act like what been doing all the time It was kinda fun But I am not looking forward to it again next year Keeping Christmas May we all in keeping Christmas Look beyond the wrap and bow Size and shape and colored tissue To what matters far below May we find our joy in giving Not in counting what we get Sharing all that is within us Without grudging or regret May we all in keeping Christmas Always find the time to be Sweet and gentle and more loving To those not as blessed as we or not just friends and family We should care about you know the young the old the lonely Who are everywhere we go Life is short and time is fleeting ill the years with things that count It takes more than good intentions God demands the full amount Of our strength and our emotions We must cast all else aside He was bom for us and also It was for us that He died So this year in keeping Christmas Mindful of what you're about Use love as your legal tender or it never will run out You can never over spend it or no matter what you do All the love you give to othersWill be given back to you! ROM THE PASTOR'S PEN By Paul WoellhPf 1 1 Cherry Tree PA 11 "Christmas can bring changes" "Unto us a child is bora" the prophet said Centuries later a child that was both fully God and hilly inan was bora to an unknown virgin girl that was awed that God Almighty would select her to the mother of the promised Messiah The marital tradition of the Jews would suggest that his young lass Mary may have been from 13 15 years of age If so a very young girl was given the honor of bearing the Savior Yes indeed this child was not just child this child was the whole world's child The whole world could lay claim to this child This child would give hope to darkened soul and miserable lives This child in maturity would change the history of the whole world Change history? Yes because He was both fully God and fiilly man He would benefit mankind for the rest of the history "if" Yes if we yield our heart to him The changes he brings to us is amazing The more we walk with him the more we recognize we need chan ges What His grace can do in us is beyond description When are changed we have a changing effect on others Everyday mundane life can have a holy invigorating purpose The drudgery can be taken from changing diapers going to work paying bills and jug gling schedules When we have holy purpose we more easily hear the birds sing and see the flowers or pretty leaves I know written with much figurative language but I trust you catch the sentiment and excitement God has done so much in my own life that I help but express the possibilities As we go through this holiday season may we be thankful for the changes and pos sibilities of life that has been made available through the grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Like the morning sun through a window may this holy day's message oi peace and goodwill to all brighten our lives In this and every season Welsh Construction Paul Connie Boys Greg Debbie I "The True Light wiULii ugmeui uvury nicui that comath into the world" 3 Jahn 1:8 A I 8 i WH EN May the spirit of the first Christmas bring joy and good cheer to you and your family urniture Store Miltonvale 427 2285 PHELPS uneral Home 427 2286 Wease on CH jmMBJw iw Hr I TO iU ROM JOHNNIE BREEN Not much to report from Beijing the weather is very cold and the wind is much like a Kansas winter day I have winter clothing but when I out outside it seem like I have enough on On ebruary 17 1997 I get my week leave and I have made reserva tions to go to the island of Bali in Indonesia I have a great hotel on the back and the temperature will be very warm I think of my vacation when cold and it helps me with the day I went out this week and purchased a short leather coat a full length leather coat and a leather vest The total cost was $50000 The full length coat would have been over $100000 and the short coat about $50000 if I had purchased them in the US I look like a Beijing gun fighter when I wear the vest David would go wild in the Chinese leather shops since he loves to buy leather coats 1 took a few shots of the Palace There is no way I could get the place in perspective with a camera It is called the orbidden City and covers a large area of land ch4 Cafe Miltonvale Ke 913 427 2477 Saturday Night Special Cattish illet or Walleye illet We will close at 1:00 pm Sunday Dec 22 for the Staff Christmas Party Wednesday the 24th Christmas Eve we will close at 1:00 pm We will be closed all day Christmas Thanks Rita A Gayion I received Mail from LaDonna and it is nice to know we can write to each other on the Internet not into the Internet much but it has been handy on a few occasions I made my hotel reservations by Mail and received information on other hotels in Bali through the Internet I was delighted to see my letter in the Miltonvale Record I will have to itn Erove my writing skills if my work is eing published Birthday candles are one way to make light of your age Snowfall for the week 1 Moisture for the week 07 Total moisture for December 07 Total moisture for 1996 3187 Total moisture for Dec 1995 45 Total moisture for 1995 3402 Total moisture for 1994 2543 Total moisture for 1993 4681 Total moisture for 1992 4235 LOCAL MARKETS Wheat $421 Milo $373 Cora $242 Soybeans $668 Oats $144 Sunflowers $980 (At the close Tuesday evening) happy to you ana yours!
