Black Ops Cold War has a new open-world Zombies mode for players to enjoy, and it’s amazing. This is the game mode that fans have been waiting on since Cold War’s launch, and possibly for even longer than that.
But it’s also a real challenge, especially as the game goes on. If you want to be prepared to face the undead hordes, you’ll need the best weapons that the game has to offer.
In later rounds, it’ll take a fully Pack-a-Punched Wonder Weapon just to compete against basic undead enemies. So here’s how to make sure you stand a chance against the zombie hordes.
Best Weapons in Black Ops Cold War Zombies Outbreak Mode
The very best weapons that you can get in Black Ops Cold War Zombies’ Outbreak mode are no surprise.
As ever, the Ray Gun is the highest DPS weapon in Zombies. The alien weaponry does devastating damage, in a small area of effect.
Despite not being upgradable, the Ray Gun is one weapon we always want to have to hand.
After that, the R.A.I. K-84, AKA Firebase Z’s Wonder Weapon is your next best pick. This gun’s alternate fire slows down incoming zombies, making it a clear choice for those attempting to survive incoming waves.
On top of that, the R.A.I. K-84 is capable of dealing major damage to those unfortunate enough to be shot by it.
Finally, the D.I.E. Shockwave was the first Wonder Weapon to appear in Cold War. It’s a powerful weapon, especially in Die Maschine.
But when it comes to Outbreak, the D.I.E. is overshadowed by the other two major players.
How to Get the Ray Gun and Wonder Weapons in Outbreak – Cold War Zombies
To get your hands on the Ray Gun and the Cold War Zombies Wonder Weapons, you’ll have to put in some work. That said, getting lucky is also a good option from time to time.
Loot Chests
If you’re playing the game normally, chances are you’ll come across the odd loot chest. In Outbreak, these Loot Chests are a great source of salvage, weapons, equipment, and more.
But the Big Loot Chests, and Golden Loot Chests have a good chance of dropping a Wonder Weapon or Ray Gun as part of their loot pool. Getting one of these drops is rare, but you’ll be opening a lot of chests.

It’s also worth noting that you’ll be in with a better chance at netting the Ray Gun, R.A.I. K-84, and D.I.E. Shockwave as you progress in the game.
Trials
Just like the best way to get a Wonder Weapon in Firebase Z, Trials are very helpful objectives that players can complete. Upon activating a Trial, players have 5 minutes to work towards completing a challenge.
The more you succeed, the more your eventual reward will be. If you don’t manage to rack up a Legendary tier reward, simply activate another challenge and continue on.
Collecting a Legendary drop by no means guarantees a Ray Gun or Wonder Weapon drop, but it does give you a good chance at one.
Megatons
On occasion, Megaton Zombies will spawn around the Outbreak map. Taking down these enemies is difficult, but it does have its own rewards to offer.
For instance, a defeated Megaton Zombie can reportedly drop you a powerful weapon of your very own.
Mystery Box
Finally, the classic way to get yourself a Ray Gun is sometimes the best. The Mystery box can be seen on the map from any location in the game.
Rolling a weapon in the Mystery Box gives you a chance at grabbing a Wonder Weapon for a low cost, but it’s not a high one. As the game goes on, if you’re still without your top-tier weaponry, give the Mystery Box a spin.
Another exceptionally powerful weapon in Outbreak is the Death Machine, however, the gun is locked behind a Scorestreak drop. Thankfully, there’s a way to get unlimited ammo with the Death Machine, once you’ve got it.
Be sure to take advantage of Perks in Black Ops Cold War too, as the powerful boosts will drastically increase your performance. Thankfully, there’s a way to get free Perks in Cold War Zombies Outbreak mode.
Of course, the Outbreak event is also in Warzone now. Even Battle Royale players are going up against the undead, although not in quite the same capacity.
