Get your taste buds ready for some finger-lickin’ good food with some urban flare. Starting, Friday, September 2 Black Food Truck Friday kicks into gear in Charlotte. Foodies can feast on a number of cuisines from some of the best food trucks in the city.
Black Food Truck Friday Dates
The Black Friday events are sponsored by Black Businesses Owners Corporation (BBOC). Attendees get a wide variety of a ‘Taste of Black Charlotte.’ Cuisines range from seafood, to soul-food, to amazing desserts. Plus, visitors get to shop from local vendors who sell jewelry, clothing and more. There are two locations:
First Friday of month, at West Complex, 1600 West Trade Street, Charlotte.
Third Friday of the month, at 4018 Triangle Drive, Charlotte.
- Friday, September 2nd, 2022, 4 to 10 p.m.
- Friday, September 16th, 2022, 4 to 9 p.m.
- Friday, October 7th, 2022, 4 to 10 p.m.
- Friday, October 21st, 2022, 4 to 9 p.m.
- Friday, November 4th, 2022, 4 to 10 p.m.
- Friday, November 18th, 2022, 4 to 9 p.m.
- Friday, December 2nd, 2022, 4 to 10 p.m.
Who Will Win BEST Black Food Truck?
Over the least four weeks, Black Food Truck teams have been competing to get to the final cook-off. It will take place during Duke’s Mayo Classic’s FanFest on September 3rd, 2022, at Bank of America Stadium.
Only three teams remain — Grits CLT, Endless Soul Food and Made From Scratch. They will all compete to be crowned Best Black Food Truck. The first place winner gets a $6,000 grant and the 2nd place winner gets a $2,000 grant. Grants are courtesy of Duke’s Mayo and Black Business Owners Corporation.
Best Food Truck Competition Schedule
Saturday, September 3rd
Noon – 2pm – Judging by private group of chefs and members of Charlotte community
2 – 4pm – Sampling of the Duke’s Mayo inspired dish & VOTING for the Foodie’s Choice Award (a separate winning from the Grand Prize). You will need Foodie Sample ticket (Get tickets here)
2 – 6pm – Purchase full Meals from the participating food trucks Full Menu will be available using standard payment methods (Cash, Debit, & Credit).
